What's the best time to leave?
To enjoy good light and avoid the midday heat in summer, an early morning departure (7am–9am) is ideal. That gives you the whole day in Essaouira to explore the medina, the fishing port and the ramparts before sunset — one of the finest in Morocco, seen from the city's Skala.
If you're heading back the same day, plan to leave before 6pm to avoid driving this road after dark.
